- Prepare Art, Die, Fabrication, and Submittal types of drawings.
- Strong background in 3-D is recommended
- Prepare full size templates for plant and customer end use
- Answer questions from plant and customers concerning drawings, as required
- Develop and recommend solutions to design problems
- Be able to send and receive CAD files across the Internet
- Review all Incoming Drawing Requests for completeness of information.
- Check and review drawings
- Help manage and prioritize drawing requests
- Help enforce the Engineering Drafting Standard
- Handle incoming CAD Department inquiries
- Train and Mentor other CAD operators
- Recommend, test and evaluate new CAD related software and hardware as requested
- 3-5 years of AutoCAD experience is a must.
- Must be proficient in AutoCAD Rel. 2000 or a newer release.
- Experience and a working knowledge of AutoCAD Inventor is a plus.

Specific Areas of Responsibility include (but are not limited to):
- Responsible for planning the project in order to accomplish its goals or produce the products required within constraints such as time, cost and agreed quality standards.
- Will review all Architectural Drawings, Specifications, and Contract Documents that are available to determine scope of project and complete take-offs and cost estimates.
- Must continuously monitor progress in terms of the status of the plan and the budget and report back to senior management via weekly or other progress reporting and by organizing and managing team / status meetings.
- Must anticipate and catch deviations from a plan or schedule early and keep all participants and stakeholders informed.
- Should identify where and when management of issues and risks or accommodating altered requirements will involve extra time or extra resources and where efficiencies can be made.
- Must be able to communicate at all levels from Architects to Contractors to Fabricators.
- May work directly with the team members or with their team leaders to estimate effort, plan activities and negotiate consensus among individual team members on their appointed tasks.
- Will need to exercise good judgment in whether tasks should be broken down into smaller detail or not.
- Should be able to create and use Gantt charts, spreadsheets or other appropriate tools to manage people and tasks and keep up-to-date.
- Should be experienced in providing a team with direction and vision, including motivating people to perform, listening to people, providing feedback, recognizing strengths and providing challenges.
- Responsible for bringing the project to a close, which may include creating an end of project report or evaluation document, holding project completion meetings and activities, and capturing and using relevant lessons learned.
- Without necessarily being an expert, the Project Manager should make an effort to understand the technology being used in order to understand and question requests coming from specialists and technical staff and to evaluate what is reasonable or possible.
- Must have an understanding of relevant methodologies, processes and standards and ensures that all project team members understand and follow these also.
- May need to generate many types of document, including specifications, contracts, schedules, project reports, communication (email) records, design and vendor specifications, meeting agendas, minutes and status reports.

Senior Design Engineer PURPOSE & GENERAL AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Designs new products and makes improvements to existing products. May evaluate products, or parts for cost efficiency and reliability and ensure project completion. May oversee the work of other engineers. Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Has a wide degree of creativity, with an underlying understanding of design concepts. Provides Design Engineering support for all Product Teams. Serves as a Team Member and Design Engineer for all Product Groups. PERSONNEL SUPERVISED: (none)
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: “College” B.S. Degree in Architecture with Structural Engineering minor, B.S. Degree in Structural or Mechanical Engineering with Architecture minor or equivalent desired. A minimum of five 5-years experience in the field of Architecture, Engineering or Technical Services. Proficiency with fully integrated computer systems, Materials Requirement Planning, working knowledge of Computer Assisted Design (CAD) software, reading and interpreting Architectural Drawings, and the management of traditional Engineering functions.
SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Performs in an Design Engineering support role for all Product Teams in its day-to-day activities of meeting the needs of both the External and the Internal Customer. Serves as a Resource for both External and Internal Customer Service needs.
•Provides Design Engineering Service support for the Product Managers, for Independent Reps, for Architect’s specifying our products, and for all other Customers. Provides Design Engineering Assistance in the areas of all Product Groups.
•The use of M2M (our company’s business and computer system )and compliance to established and required procedures
•Manages Product Improvement and New Product Development initiatives for all Product Teams.
•Assists the Product Manager in the gathering of accurate information required in the preparation of Bids, and in the Quotation Process. This includes identifying projects with unique or possible problem areas that require additional cost analysis or production capability review.
•Ensures that all procedures are followed, with precision, and that “short cuts” that are intended to save minutes do not result in creating non-value added work downstream, lends itself to possible confusion, or result in an ambiguous specification and expectation for whatever process is required to satisfy the needs of the customer.
•Other functional requirements include: •E-mailing specifications, AutoCad files, and product information to Customers •Responding to Customer Needs for Specifications, Drawing/Product Details, Calculations •Assist Team with Project Take Offs •Responsible for Product Testing (i.e. curving, deflection, etc.) •Insures Architectural Product Specifications are met (i.e. ASTM’s, UL, FM, etc.) •Attends all Drawing Reviews Assists National Sales Manager With Product Presentations as required. •Maintains spreadsheets / data bases •Architectural customer visits to resolve design issues •Field Site visits to resolve Customer Problems with Gordon Systems they are installing. •Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time-to-time
